7 Ways to get Approval to attend a Conference
| |
|
| | This is an excerpt of a newsletter I recently got. If you require approval by your boss, here are some tips on how to get approval. Very useful indeed.

Here are some ways you can persuade your boss or training department to send you to a conference:
1. Go in with all the necessary materials to make your case to attend. Print out the show program and circle the classes you want to take and the bios of the instructors. Build your own custom, practical program. You can find it at www.sptechcon.com/classes.html.
2. Promise to come back from the conference and hold a brown-bag lunch session to share what you‘ve learned with your colleagues --and to make action plans to improve your company and projects.
3. Show how specific problems or issues you‘ve recently encountered fit with the workshops and classes at the conference, or how ideas from case studies will help you leap over the learning curve.
4. Point out that the tuition and travel expense of attending the conference is less than many other conferences. And the earlier you sign up, the more you save.
5. Tuition often can be reduced further by sending 3 or more employees from your company. Each person can take different classes, bringing back even more valuable tips and techniques!
6. Discuss how the conference can help you get a jump-start on related projects, new revenue streams or tying up stalled projects you‘ve been talking about focusing on --but haven‘t -- for months.
7. We‘re all aware of the decline in investment value... but investing in your future with new programs by education is guaranteed to produce dividends now and in years to come.
